Sana Mir – Women Cricket

A veteran cricketer and former Captain of Pakistan’s ODI and T20I squad, Sana Mir announced a break from International cricket in November but not before she had made her mark in local as well as international arenas.

Sana became first Pakistani female cricketer to play 100 T20I matches n February 2019 and then in May 2019, she became the most successful spin bowler in women cricket with 151 wickets.

33-year-old all-rounder from Abbottabad won the prestigious 2019 Asia Society Game Changers award and was named as the captain of Wisden’s Women Team of the decade.

Shahida Abbasi – Karate

Shahida Abbasi became the first Pakistani Karate player to win the gold medal for her country in Asia Games in Nepal.

The Quetta-based karateka also has several club achievements to her name and hopes to keep up the good work in the coming years too.

Syed Imaad Ali – Scrabble

Syed Imaad Ali became the youngest ever player to win the coveted Junior World Scrabble Championship in England in November 2019.

The 13-year-old expressed a phenomenal talent for the word game and remained unbeaten with a huge margin throughout the championship and helped seal his country’s dominance in scrabble with the top 5 positions being held by Pakistani players.

Tayyab Aslam – Squash

Tayyab Aslam not only clinched the gold medal gold in the individual category in the South Asian Games but was a key player behind team win in said games.

Tayyab also won several championships in 2019 including Serena Huawei Pakistan International Tournament. He is currently the top-ranked Pakistani squash player in the world at number 61.
