After the retirement of Raneem El Welily the new women’s No 1 is Egypt’s Nouran Gohar. El Welily had held the top rankings for 19 months, while Nouran had been World No.2 for five months after winning the U.S. Open and Carol Weymuller Open.

Nauran commented that for her it was a dream to become No.1 as she wished for this day since holding the squash racket. For her the retirement of Raneem was a shock as she was sad that a legend was retiring.

Although, the men’s and women’s PSA World Rankings are presently frozen due to coronavirus attack. However, as Raneem El Welily’s retirement moves her out of the rankings, thereby, all the women players move a ranking above.

The men’s rankings remain unchanged, with Egypt’s Mohamed ElShorbagy staying at World No.1 for a sixth month in succession ahead of Ali Farag (No.2), Karim Abdel Gawad (No.3), Tarek Momen (No.4) and Paul Coll (No.5)
