Football-European Leagues: Season 2023-24 | Update MatchDay 4&5; 18th September

The Top Leagues in Europe got busy again after a two week hiatus. In this period, many footballers performed duties with national teams, playing friendlies or qualifiers. The scheduling and adjustments of various tiers and
competitions are indeed herculean tasks which UEFA performs admirably well in conjunction with member associations. Even then, due to unforeseen or unavoidable reasons, some teams have to go through less gaps between matches or extra traveling etc. but it is taken as part of business.

Football-European Leagues: Season 2023-24 | Update MatchDay 3&4; 3rd September

Let’s see how teams fared in respective leagues on this MatchDay though it is still early days to form any definitive picture. Nonetheless, for some, like Manchester City and Real Madrid, only winning is the option.

Ligue 1-MatchDay-5 of 34

On MatchDay-5, 9 matches were played in France’s top league. In sort of a recent trend, there were 5 draw and 4 matches produced results. PSG suffered first defeat of the season, which should jolt them to regain their top spot at the Leaderboard. It was surely a low-scoring MatchDay. The teams seem to be coming into their element as the league progresses. Previous week’s joint leader Marseille played a draw.

The top England league witnessed 10 contests on MatchDay-5. There were only two drawn games and 8 produced results. While the other heavyweights continue dominating opponents, woes of Manchester United and Chelsea continue as they languish at 12th and 13th place respectively on the table. Manchester City continue their majestic march with their 5th consecutive win. Chelsea also lost.
