Highlights & Analysis

1.   Ireland stunned Pakistan team as after getting all out for 130 in the 1st innings, the Irish batsmen batted throughout the whole day. As, Pakistani bowlers were unable to get them all out after bowling more than 100 overs.

2. So, what happened was that Ed Joyce and William Porterfield resumed the fourth day as they looked to reach their fifties and lessen the lead between them and Pakistan.

3. However, after sheer resistance and many overs, Ed Joyce got run-out in the 29th over after which the new batsman, Balbirine also gave his wicket as he was taken by Mohammad Abbas in the next over.

4. The next two wickets also fell in less than 40 runs as Amir and Abbas took the wicket of Neil ‘O Brien and William Porterfield to send them back to the pavilion.

5. After this wicket a decent partnership of 32 runs was shared between Paul Stirling and Kevin ‘O Brien before Abbas took Stirling’s wicket to leave Ireland 5 down on 127 runs.

6. Gary Wilson came to the crease but his wicket was taken 10 overs later as Pakistan looked to close the Irish innings by cleaning up the tail.

7. But then came the surprising element of the match as Kevin ‘O Brien and Thompson shared a massive partnership of 114-runs as Ireland now had a healthy lead over Pakistan.

8. But Pakistan finally struck in the 103rd over of this innings as Thompson’s stumps were uprooted by Shadab Khan.

9. However, this was the last wicket of the day as Ireland didn’t allow Pakistan to take any more wickets and ended the day with a healthy lead of 139 runs and 3 wickets in hand.

10. It was a special effort by William Porterfield as he made his debut Test century and was also applauded by Pakistani players as he walked off the ground.

11. Now, if Ireland manage to score 100 more runs and take their lead close to 250, then it would be quite difficult for a weak Pakistan line-up to chase it down on the last day of this Test Match.
