Maham Aftab, Pakistan’s international taekwondo player who won a gold medal during 2008 in a Jordanian championship was laid to rest in her home town Vehari.

The 26 year old star had passed away ( إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ‎ – Surely we belong to ALLAH/GOD and to HIM shall we return) on Friday in Islamabad, where she was under treatment for Brain tumour.

Maham Aftab quit the game five years ago. During her involvement she represented Pakistan in various international events which included the 2009 Asian Championships held in Kish Island, Iran and 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore.

During an exclusive talk with Allsportspk, the President PTA-Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Mr. Waseem Ahmed Janjua having been in touch with Maham since she was 11 years, was grieved about her passing away. Also shared his concern about the future of Mahams’ two and half year old boy. Elaborated that all efforts are being on part of PTA and certain well wishers to ensure a bright future for the young one.
