Larisa Latynina is a Ukrainian gymnast who dominated the Olympic Games, winning a record 18 medals, including 9 gold medals, across three Summer Olympics.
Latynina’s Olympic journey began at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where she won 4 gold medals, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. She excelled in the individual all-around, vault, and team all-around events.
At the 1960 Rome Olympics, Latynina defended her titles in the team, individual all-around, and floor exercise events, adding 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze to her collection.
