A sports event of MATP-Motor Activity Training Program was organized by RSEWS-Rising Sun Education and Welfare Society in collaboration with RIU-Riphah International University at RSI-Rising Sun Institute premises in DHA-Defence Housing Society, Lahore.
The MATP is a program to prepare ‘special’ athletes for specific sporting activities according to the level of their ability. This includes also those who have severe or profound intellectual disability and significant physical disabilities.
The games and sports were modified to meet the requirements of children with moderate to severe intellectual impairment and limitations in physical functioning level. Team of physical therapists, occupational therapist and special education teachers worked collaboratively with the sports coaches of Rising Sun to set up engaging, entertaining and flexible games stations for the athletes with special needs.
