Cycling – Binckbank Tour ’18 Stage 3: Taco Hoorn Wins

Binckbank Tour

Taco van der Hoorn was the unexpected champ of the Binckbank Tour Stage 3, on an uncommon event in which the breakaway figured out how to hold off the peloton on a level stage.

Taco van der Hoorn is a Dutch national and a professional cyclist. He currently is a part of the UCI Professional Continental team Roompot–Nederlandse Loterij.

His breakaway partner Matej Mohoric acquired the general lead from Stefan Küng who previously won stage 2 of this event.

A Late Sprint

In the last 10 kilometers Mohoric, effectively the most proficient rider in the gathering, put in a few stinging assaults trying to win the stage.

But, it was Van der Hoorn’s counter-assault under the one kilometer, that turned out to be the conclusive move, which neither Mohoric nor the others could react to.

The outcome will certainly go down as the greatest, on the 24-year old Dutchman’s palmares, which up to this point had just included a couple of wins in minor Europe Tour races.
