National Open Polo C’ship For Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup ’19: Master Paints Black Win

LAHORE: 11-goal Matias Vial Parez guided Master Paints Black to a thrashing 13-4 triumph over Diamond Paints/Newage in the International Steels National Open Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2019 match played at Lahore Polo Club ground.

Besides Matias, Ahmed Ali Tiwana also displayed outstanding polo skills and contributed with a brace for the winning side. Salvador Ulloa hammered a hat-trick and Hissam Ali Hyder converted one goal from the losing side.

Master Paints Black were off to flying start as they banged in a brace in the first chukker through Matias to take 2-0 lead. Their dominace continued in the second chukker as well, where they slammed in three goals – all through Matias – to further strengthen their lead while Salvador struck two goals for Diamond Paints/Newage to reduce the margin to 5-2 before the end of the chukker.

Both the sides played equally well in the third chukker and succeeded in converting one goal apiece to make it 6-3. Ahmed Ali struck one for the winning side while Hissam contributed one for the losing team. The fourth chukker saw more aggression from Master Paints Black, who pumped in four more goals to take a healthy 10-3 edge. This time Matias malleted a hat-trick while Ahmed Ali struck one for Master Paints Black while the only goal of the chukker from Diamond Paints/Newage came from Salvador to make it 10-4.

Master Paints Black continued to maintain their supremacy even in the fifth and last chukker, where they added three more goals in their tally to finish the match having an unassailable 13-4 lead. Matias banged in a brace to complete his 11-goal haul while Ahmed Ali scored one.

Nicolas Scortichini and Martin Fewster officiated the match as field umpires and Shah Qublai Alam as match referee.

With this tremendous triumph, Master Paints has reached the top of the points table with six points while Master Paints team is at number two with four points and at number three is Diamond Paints/Newage with four points.
