Wimbledon 2018 Highlights: Day 3; Round of 64 – 1st Half Doubles

Allsportspk presents to you the highlights of the first half of doubles of round of 64. The pairs that claimed victory today against their opponents have now advanced to the round of 32 of Wimbledon 2018.

Men’s Doubles

Match: Matthew Ebden and Taylor Fritz vs Peter Gojowczyk and Benoit Paire

Summary: Matthew Ebden and Taylor Fritz took a perfect start as they easily dominated Peter Gojowczyk and Benoit Paire in the first set by a margin of three points. However, a tough fight was witnessed in the next set by Peter Gojowczyk and Benoit Paire as the score reached 4-4. But in the end, again Matthew Ebden and Taylor Fritz won the set after scoring the last two points in a quick succession.

In the decisive set, Peter Gojowczyk and Benoit Paire were playing confidently at the start but after some time, Matthew Ebden and Taylor Fritz started scoring quickly and after some time they won the third set too.

Result: Matthew Ebden and Taylor Fritz defeated Peter Gojowczyk and Benoit Paire in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.

Match: Franko Skugor and Dominic Inglot vs Mischa Zverev and Marton Fucsovics

Summary: Franko Skugor and Dominic Inglot took a perfect start as they dominated Peter Gojowczyk and Benoit Paire in the first set by a margin of two points. However, a tough fight was seen in the first set but still Mischa and Marton failed to win in the end. In the second set, a tough battle was witnessed again but in the end, Mischa Zverev and Marton Fucsovics failed to win it as they dropped the last two points in a quick succession.

In the third set, Franko Skugor and Dominic Inglot gave a humiliating defeat to Mischa Zverev and Marton Fucsovics as they were not able to score more than two points throughout the set.

Result: Franko Skugor and Dominic Inglot defeated Mischa Zverev and Marton Fucsovics in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 7-5, 6-2.

Match: Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic vs Taro Daniel and Yoshihito Nishioka

Summary: Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic won the first set in the end by three points as Taro Daniel and Yoshihito Nishioka failed to score the points first. However, a tough fight was seen in the second set as Taro Daniel and Yoshihito Nishioka were scoring the points quickly this time. However, in the end, Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic again won the set as they managed to score the last two points in a quick succession.

In the third set, Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic faced a tough battle again but again Taro Daniel and Yoshihito Nishioka faced defeat in the third set and failed to make it to the next round.

Result: Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic defeated Taro Daniel and Yoshihito Nishioka in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic will now play against Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt in the round of 32 at Wimbledon 2018.

Match: Scott Clayton and Liam Broady vs Frances Tiafoe and Jackson Withrow

Summary: Both the pairs took a perfect start as they were scoring points quickly one after the other in the opening set. However, the American pair, Frances Tiafoe and Jackson Withrow failed to win the set as they dropped the last two points in a quick succession. In the next set, a terrible defeat was given to Frances Tiafoe and Jackson Withrow as they lost many points on their serve and eventually lost the set by three points in the end.

In the third set, Frances Tiafoe and Jackson Withrow struggled hard to win but despite their hard work and good efforts, they both faced a similar defeat by 7-5 and failed to make it to the next round of Wimbledon 2018.

Match: Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt vs Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram

Summary: The first set was a worth-watching set as both the pairs were leading each other by a point one after the other. At last, the set came to a tie-breaker after a tough fight. But, Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt sealed their win on the tie-break as Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram lost some points on their serve.

In the second set, Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram again gave a tough fight to their opponents but, they again failed to win as they dropped the last two points in a quick succession. In the third set, Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt easily won it by a margin of three points as IVan Dodig and Rajeev Ram were in pressure after the defeat in the previous sets.

Result: Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt defeated Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram in Wimbledon 2018 by 7-6(4), 7-5, 6-3. Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt will now play against Andrei Vasilevski and Antonio Sancic in the round of 32 at Wimbledon 2018.

 

Match: Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski vs Ilija Bozoljac and Damir Dzumhur

Summary: Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski took a perfect start as they easily dominated Ilija Bozoljac and Damir Dzumhur in the first set by a margin of three points. However, a tough fight was witnessed in the second set by Ilija Bozoljac and Damir Dzumhur. But in the end, again Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski won the set after scoring the last two points in a quick succession.

In the decisive set, Ilija Bozoljac and Damir Dzumhur were playing confidently at the start but after some time, Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski started scoring points quickly and after some time they won the third set and finally booked their place into the next round.

Result: Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski defeated Ilija Bozoljac and Damir Dzumhur in Wimbledon 2018 by 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Match: Marcin Matkowski and Jonathan Erlich vs Hugo Nys and Jonathan Eysseric

Summary: What an absolute and outclass performance was witnessed between the two pairs throughout the match. In the first set, both the pairs gave an exquisite performance as the set eventually came to a tie-breaker. However, in the end, Marcin Matkowski and Jonathan Erlich sealed their win as Hugo Nys and Jonathan Eysseric dropped some points on their serve.

In the second set, again both of them played very well as the set was decided on the tie-breaker. Hugo Nys and Jonathan Eysseric again lost the set on the tie-break and the match came to the decisive set. Hugo Nys and Jonathan Eysseric were in pressure after they lost the two sets so they again faced defeat in the third set on the tie-break and finally failed to make it to the next round.

Result: Marcin Matkowski and Jonathan Erlich defeated Hugo Nys and Jonathan Eysseric in Wimbledon 2018 by 7-6(5), 7-6(4), 7-6(8).

Women’s Doubles

Match: Kirsten Flipkens and Monica Niculescu vs Ajla Tomljanovic and Yulia Putintseva

Summary: A tough battle was witnessed between Kirsten Flipkens and Monica Niculescu and Ajla Tomljanovic and Yulia Putintseva as they all were scoring points one after the other. However, Kirsten Flipkens and Monica Niculescu successfully managed to win the first set as they score the last two points in a quick succession.

In the second set, Ajla Tomljanovic and Yulia Putintseva again fought well and scored points quickly but, bad luck continued for them as they both again lost the set in the end by two points.

Result: Kirsten Flipkens and Monica Niculescu defeated Ajla Tomljanovic and Yulia Putintseva at Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 7-5. Kirsten Flipkens and Monica Niculescu will now face Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery in the round of 32 at Wimbledon 2018.

Match: Shuko Aoyama and Jennifer Brady vs Wang Qiang and Darija Jurak

Summary: Shuko Aoyama and Jennifer Brady gave a humiliating defeat to Wang Qiang and Darija Jurak in the first set easily as Wang and Darija lost many points on their serve. However, a good effort was shown by Wang Qiang and Darija Jurak in the second set but again Jennifer Brady and Shuko Aoyama won the set easily by three points.

Result: Shuko Aoyama and Jennifer Brady defeated Wang Qiang and Darija Jurak at Wimbledon 2018 by 6-2, 6-3.

Match: Andrea Petkovic and Kaia Kanepi vs Carina Witthoft and Maria Irigoyen

Summary: Andrea Petkovic and Kaia Kanepi and Carina Witthoft and Maria Irigoyen both pairs gave a tough fight to each other in the first set. But in the end, Andrea Petkovic and Kaia Kanepi finally won it as they scored the last two points in a quick succession.

However, Andrea Petkovic and Kaia Kanepi easily won the next set by three points as Carina Witthoft and Maria Irigoyen dropped a number of points in this set and finally failed to make it to the next round.

Result: Andrea Petkovic and Kaia Kanepi defeated Carina Witthoft and Maria Irigoyen at Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 6-3.

Match: Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery vs Viktorija Golubic and Nicola Geuer

Summary: Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery and Viktorija Golubic and Nicola Geuer both pairs gave their best performance in the first set. But in the end, Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery finally won it as they scored the last two points in a quick succession.

However, in the next set a tough battle was again witnessed as the set eventually came to a tie-breaker after the score was levelled at 6-6. However, in the end, Viktorija Golubic and Nicola Geuer failed to win as they lost the last point first and failed to make it to the next round.

Result: Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery defeated Viktorija Golubic and Nicola Geuer at Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 7-6(1). Sofia Kenin and Sachia Vickery will now play against Kirsten Flipkens and Monica Niculescu in the round of 32 at Wimbledon 2018.

Match: Lucie Hradecka and Hsieh Su-wei vs Katie Swan and Katie Boulter

Summary: Lucie Hradecka and Hsieh Su-wei took a great start as they were constantly scoring points in the first set. While, on the other hand, the British pair, Katie Swan and Katie Boulter were scoring at a very slow pace. In the end, Lucie Hradecka and Hsieh Su-wei easily won the first set by a margin of three points and the match moved on to the second set.

Katie Swan and Katie Boulter struggled hard in the second set as Lucie Hradecka and Hsieh Su-wei gave both of them a humiliating defeat by winning the set from a total of four points.

Result: Lucie Hradecka and Hsieh Su-wei defeated Katie Swan and Katie Boulter at Wimbledon 2018 by 6-3, 6-2.

Match: Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko vs Asia Muhammad and Naomi Broady

Summary: Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko and Asia Muhammad and Naomi Broady both the pairs played at their peak in the first set. But in the end, Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko finally won it as they scored the last two points in a quick succession.

However, in the next set a tough fight was again seen as the set eventually came to a tie-breaker after the score was levelled at 6-6. However, in the end, Asia Muhammad and Naomi Broady again failed to win as they lost a number of points on the tie-break and failed to make it to the next round.

Result: Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko defeated Asia Muhammad and Naomi Broady at Wimbledon 2018 by 7-5, 7-6(3).

Match: Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke vs Anett Kontaveit and Monica Puig

Summary: Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke took a great start as they were constantly scoring points in the first set. While, on the other hand, Anett Kontaveit and Monica Puig were also scoring points but at a very slow pace. In the end, Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke easily won the first set as they scored the last two points in a quick succession.

Anett Kontaveit and Monica Puig struggled hard in the second set as Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke gave both of them a humiliating defeat by winning the set from a total of four points in the end.

Result: Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke defeated Anett Kontaveit and Monica Puig at Wimbledon 2018 by 6-4, 6-2.
