14th West Asia Baseball Cup ’19 – Final: Sri Lanka Win Gold; Pak Silver Medalist
SRI LANKA: The hosts Sri Lanka won the West Asian Cup 2019 final by defeating Pakistan.
The final was an extremely close encounter with Pakistan being beaten 5-4 in the last innings.
The final standings are:
Winner – Gold: Sri Lanka
Runner-Up – Silver: Pakistan
3rd Position – Bronze: India
According to reports, till the 5th inning Sri Lanka with 3-0 score had an edge over Pakistan. In the 8th inning Pakistan narrowed the score to were 5-3 to Sri Lanka. The match was decided in the last inning.
Earlier, Pakistan had reached the final after defeating India 13-2 in the semi-final. And Sri Lanka were in the final after defeating Iran 9-2.
According to the rules, the first two teams – Sri Lanka and Pakistan have qualified for the Asian Championship 2019, to be held in China.
