SL In Trouble After Easily Dismissing Pakistan

Sri Lanka was 64/3 at the end of the first of the second test against Pakistan after the hosts were bowled out for 191 in Karachi.

Lasith Embuldeniya and Lahiru Kumara each claimed four wickets as Pakistan lost its last 6 wickets for just 34 runs despite having a solid start as it chose to bat first after winning the toss.

Babar Azam (60) and Asad Shafiq (63) were the only prominent scorers whereas the last test’s centurion debutant Abid Ali was dismissed 0n 38 by Kumara.

Angelo Mathews (8*) and Lasith Embuldeniya (3*) will begin the second day’s play tomorrow for Sri Lanka.

Women Cricket

England Wins Second T20i

England women claimed an undefeatable lead of 2-0 after beating Pakistan by 84 runs on Thursday at Kuala Lumpur.

England set a target of 186 batting first thanks to the timely half centuries of Amy Jones (89) and Danni Wyatt (55) in the given 20 overs.

In response, Pakistan was able to make only 101 in 20 overs as English bowlers contained them very well. Iram Javed was the top scorer with 38 runs.

The third and final match of the series will be played on Friday in Malaysia.

The El Clásico Ends In Draw

The much-awaited clash between historic rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid ended in draw as both sides failed to score a single goal even after the extra time was awarded in the La Liga Championship.

Barcelona still tops the La Liga points table due to having scored more goals than Real Madrid as both sides have won an equal number of matches so far.

League Cup Roundup

Manchester City, Manchester United and Leicester all secured a spot in the semi-finals of League Cup by beating their respective opponents in the quarter-finals.

Murray’s Comeback Honored

Andy Murray has been named the 2019 Comeback Player of The Year by ATP awards.

The 32-year-old was voted for the top award by fellow players for overcoming a hip surgery and went on to win the 2019 European Open.

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal was given the prestigious Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award whereas Jannik Sinner was named the ‘New Comer of the year 2019’.

Russia To Appeal Olympics Ban

Russian sports officials on Thursday declared their intentions to appeal against the Four-year ban slapped by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The International regulatory body had earlier banned Russia from participating or hosting any major international sporting events due to its non-cooperation in the investigation of industrial-scale doping allegations against Russian athletes.

Cummins Sold For Record Amount

Australia’s Pat Cummins became the most expensive foreign player in the history of league cricket after being acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping $2.18 million on Thursday.

Some 1000 players were put up for auction in the Indian Premium League (IPL) auction where Eight Franchises bid to fill up the 73 positions in their squads.

Many star players such as Virat Kohli, Ben Stokes and David Warner have already been retained by their previous teams so they were not included in the today’s auction.
