Cycling – Vuelta a Espana ’18 Stage 13: Oscar Rodriguez Wins

Race Summary:

  • Oscar Rodriguez was the surprising champ of the ongoing Vuelta a España stage 13. The rider took triumph, in front of WorldTour riders Rafal Majka and Dylan Teuns on the summit finish to Alto La Camperona.
  • The Spaniard had been a piece of the day’s colossal breakaway gathering, and could connect crosswise over to Majka and Teuns who had assaulted on the lofty last climb.
  • As he contacted them, he scarcely delayed as he proceeded with his pace and quickly reduced the distance in the last kilometer.

  • Majka kept on pursuing him, however there was nothing he could do to stop Rodriguez clutching and take a momentous triumph for his Euskadi-Murias group who will check this as an effective stage win.
  • In the GC battle, Simon Yates and Nairo Quintana holed their opponents in the last kilometer, with the Colombian removing the Briton in the last 100m to complete with a 6 second favourable position.

  • Jesus Herrada clutched the general lead despite being dropped on the climb, however his overall gap is down to 1-42 over Simon Yates.
