Karl Bushby is a British ex-paratrooper, walking adventurer, and author, born on March 30, 1969, in Hull, England. He served with the 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment for 11 years after joining the British Army at 16.
The Journey So Far
Bushby’s journey has been marked by numerous challenges, including crossing the treacherous Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama, which took nearly four years to complete. He has also walked across the frozen Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia, despite being detained for nearly two months in Russia for entering without proper travel documents. Bushby has continued through Mongolia, Central Asia, Georgia, and Türkiye, where he recently entered through the Sarp Border Gate on the Georgian border.
Present Status
Currently, Bushby is in Türkiye, awaiting permission to enter Europe. He hopes to cross into Europe either on foot over a bridge or by swimming across the Bosporus. With over 9,584 days of walking under his belt, Bushby remains committed to his goal of completing the journey without using motorized transportation.
