During the nominations day of Davis Cup, there was a new touch added to the proceedings, whereby, the captains for the first time were able to nominate five-man teams as part of new trials in the competition in 2018.
 
Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and USA in the World Group, were the only chose not to exercise their right to field a five-strong team. The move was specifically welcomed by France, which enabled them to name the same team that defeated Belgium in November’s Davis Cup Final, however, this time include Nicolas Mahut, who missed out on a place in Yannick Noah’s final four man team.

According to the Davis Cup organizers, in the 2 to 4 February event, ranked players to star include:
