2017 Roland Garros is the 116th edition of the French championships, which began in 1891 as a closed championship reserved for national players or players enrolled in French clubs, and the 87th tournament since the event became international in 1925. This is the 84th time that the tournament has been held at Roland Garros, which was built for the 1928 France v USA Davis Cup Final.
