The 61st National Amateur Golf Championship of Pakistan will be contested at the commemorated, par 72 Peshawar Golf Club Golf Course from 18th November to 21st November 2021 under the guidance of PGF-Pakistan Golf Federation. As the title signifies, this is the foremost and illustrious amateur championship of the national golf calendar where the paramount performer will be endorsed and ratified as the national amateur golf champion of Pakistan for 2021.

Besides the event for the Men’s amateur category, plus the Ladies category, other noteworthy events are the Senior amateur engagement for honours and also there is the Inter Association team match between amateur teams and Senior Amateur team from all provinces of Pakistan.

Eligibility for participation in this national championship for amateur golf players is stringent and only golfers with a handicap of 7 and below are qualified to be a participant. And in golf, acquiring a handicap of 7 and below is an enormous task requiring effort, exertion, yearning plus painstaking practice. 

The list of hopefuls who seek acclaim and exaltation through masterly golf play is long indeed. From Sind the searing ones are Yashal Shah, Saim Shazlli and blooming Omar Khalid who is also the defending champion. Remarkable ones from Federal Golf Association are Salman Khan, Tauqeer Kiyani and Umair Saleem. Formidable ones of Punjab are Salman Jehangir, Qasim Ali Khan, Rafay Raja and Muhammed Umer Khokher. In the teens category Damil Ataullah is on the hunt and also in a similar vein is Hussain Hamid the undefeated champion of Royal Palm.

Ladies section has to be proud of marvelous players like Parkha Ijaz, Rimsha Ijaz, Suneya Osama and Syeda Iman Ali Shah. Senior Amateurs who stand out as prime challengers are Col M. Shafi, Shafiq Bhatti, Asif Mehdi and Tariq Mehmood.

As for the Individual Amateur championship it will be played over 72 holes, four days from 18th November to 21st November  2021.

Ladies will play over 54 holes, three rounds from 19th November to 21st November 2021, while Senior amateurs also fight it out over three rounds.

Only the Inter Association Team Match for Men and Men senior will be over 36 holes. Men’s match is on 18th and 19th November and Seniors Match on 19th and 20th November. 

Although the Pakistani youngsters possess enough talent and expertise to play quality golf during this event, missing will be the international touch as overseas teams are still staying away because of the COVID regulations. However visible is abundant national golf playing dexterity, adroitness and competitiveness that will make the championship rip roaring and gripping.

Championship tees off at 10am at the Famed Peshawar Golf Course. The playing arena is the colonial times Peshawar Golf Course, refurbished and prepared to provide ample  challenges of contours, water hazards, out of bounds, supporting fairways and excellent greens and these features and many more will test, fully the playing skills of the hot contender.
