Asian Games ’18 – Rugby: Pakistan 7s Team All Set To Compete

Pakistan 7s Rugby team is all set to compete for the sixth time in the Asian Games 2018. The Rugby event will be held over three days from 30 August to 1 September 2018 at the Rugby D field in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex.

Pakistan, is placed in a tough pool alongside Thailand, China and Hong Kong.

The Pakistan captain Kashif Khawaja while talking to the media said:

  • “Now with the inclusion of sevens in the Olympics, being part of the Asian Games is another level of competition that we
    need.”
  • “Playing in events like Asian Games helps to foster more competitive games, especially for upcoming teams to develop their skills.”
  • “Pakistan are one of the 12 men’s teams competing in Jakarta, but with just the three medals on offer, the competition will be tough, with all matches having an impact on the tournament.”

Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Malik, the Head Coach of Pakistan Rugby mentioned that Pakistan team has had very good experience in the last international events and coupled with the three days camp we hope to play with a positive mind and hope to achieve the best.
