Single’s: Magdalena Rybarikova vs Kristina Mladenovic

Result: Magdalena Rybarikova defeated Kristina Mladenovic by 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Highlights:

  • An outclass performance was seen today between Magdalena and Kristina in all the three sets.
  • Kristina Mladenovic took the lead in the first set however, Magdalena started recovering it after some time.
  • But unfortunately, Magdalena Rybarikova lost some points on the serve and ultimately lost the set by 6-3.

  • Magdalena Rybarikova opened the scoring in the second set and build up a great lead for Kristina Mladenovic.
  • Kristina however, managed to recover only a few points and eventually lost the set to Magdalena by 6-2.
  • The match moved on to the decisive set as Kristina Mladenovic faced a terrible defeat in the last set.

  • Soon the third set started and Magdalena Rybarikova again took the lead this time.
  • Magdalena played at its best in this set as she let Kristina Mladenovic to grab only a single point against her.
  • Magdalena Rybarikova will now face Dalila Jakupovic in her next match of Birmingham Classic 2018.

Single’s: Elina Svitolina vs Alize Cornet

Result: Elina Svitolina defeated Alize Cornet by 6-4, 6-2.

Highlights:

  • Alize Cornet took the lead in the first set and was extending it at a very good pace.
  • However, on the other hand, Elina Svitolina recovered the points after some time and the match became more exciting.

  • At last, it was Elina Svitolina who claimed her win in the first set by 6-4 as she won the last points on her serve.
  • The match moved on to the next decisive set for both the players.

  • Alize Cornet again took the lead in this set but she failed to extend it large enough for the Elina Svitolina.
  • The Ukrainian star, Elina not only recovered the points but she also sealed the win in this set by 6-2 after giving an outstanding performance against Alize.

Double’s: Kveta Peschke and Nicole Melichar vs Daria Kasatkina and Garbine Muguruza

Result: Kveta Peschke and Nicole Melichar defeated Daria Kasatkina and Garbine Muguruza by 1-6, 7-6(5), 14-12.

Highlights:

  • Even though, Kveta Peschke and Nicole Melichar faced defeat in the first set against Daria Kasatkina and Garbine Muguruza but still they won the next two sets.
  • Garbine and Daria took the lead in the opening set and kept on extending their lead.
  • In the end, Kveta Peschke and Nicole Melicar failed to chase them and eventually lost the first set by 1-6.

  • It was a shocking defeat for Kveta and Nicole as they were only able to make a point against their opponents.
  • In the second set, both the pairs gave their best as the set came to a tie-breaker after the score was equalized 6-6.

  • But finally, Kveta Peschke and Nicole Melicar won this set on the tie-break and the match moved on to the decisive set.
  • Fantastic performance was seen in this set too by both the pairs as they fought bravely till the end of the set.
  • Kveta and Nicole took the lead in this set while on the other hand Garbine Muguruza and Daria Kasatkina recovered the points soon.

  • At last, Garbine Muguruza and Daria Kasatkina lost this set and didn’t make it to the next round of the Birmingham Classic 2018.
