The major shock was in Men’s category, when Nafiizwan Adnan from Malaysia pulled off the biggest shock by beating the top seed Nick Matthew who is a double gold medallist – in 2014 and 2010 – and was expected to win the gold in Gold Coast for the 3rd time.

Another difference during 2018 Commonwealth Games is a quartet of players representing England, Malaysia, New Zealand and Wales will play the men’s and women’s singles semi-finals as follows:
