Men’s Singles

Single’s: Denis Shapovalov vs Jared Donaldson

Result: Denis Shapovalov defeated Jared Donaldson by 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Highlights:

  • The 19-year old, Canadian took a perfect start by winning the opening set of the match in the end as Jared Donaldson failed to score the last two points first.

  • However, Jared came in action in the next set and beat Denis Shapovalov in it by two points.
  • The match came to the deciding set and Denis Shapovalov opened the scoring of it.

  • Jared Donaldson failed to recover the score and at last lost the match by a margin of four points to his opponent.
  • Denis Shapovalov will now face Mischa Zverev in the next round of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018.

 

Single’s: Marco Cecchinato vs Denis Istomin

Result: Marco Cecchinato defeated Denis Istomin by 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Highlights:

  • An exquisite performance was witnessed today between Marco and Denis as they both gave their best performance today.

  • Marco Cecchinato lost the first set as Denis scored the last two points in a quick succession.
  • However, in the second set, Marco Cecchinato took the lead and claimed the victory in this set after a tough fight.

  • Now it was all down to the third set for both of them. Although, Marco Cecchinato took the lead but Denis recovered it after some time and the score reached 5-5.
  • At last, Marco Cecchinato sealed his win in the last set and will now face John Millman in the Quarter finals of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018.

Wimbledon Open 2018 Highlights: Day 2 – 1st Half

Single’s: Lukas Lacko vs Diego Schwartzman

Result: Lukas Lacko defeated Diego Schwartzman by 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Highlights:

  • Although, Lukas Lacko opened the scoring of the first set but he failed to extend it and eventually lost the set by two points.
  • In the second set, Diego Schwartzman took the lead when Lukas Lacko lost the point on his serve.

  • However, in the end, Lukas Lacko somehow managed to win it by scoring two points in a quick succession.
  • The match came to the decisive set and again Diego Schwartzman opened the scoring of it.

  • After a very tough fight between the two, the score reached 5-5 and the match became more exciting.
  • But the Slovak Tennis star, Lukas scored the last two points and made it to the next round of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018 where he will face Cameron Norrie in the Quarter finals.

Single’s: Mischa Zverev vs Steve Johnson

Result: Mischa Zverev defeated Steve Johnson by 6-3, 6-3.

Highlights:

  • Although, Steve Johnson opened the scoring of the first set but he failed to extend it for his opponent to chase it.
  • Mischa Zverev finally won the first set easily by three points upfront and the match moved to the next set.
  • In the second set, Mischa Zverev opened the scoring and was extending his lead at a very fast pace.

  • Steve Johnson struggled hard to win this set but he was only able to recover three points.
  • Mischa Zverev eventually won the second set too and will now face Denis Shapovalov in the next round of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018.

 

Women’s Singles

Single’s: Caroline Wozniacki vs Johanna Konta

Result: Caroline Wozniacki defeated Johanna Konta by 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Both the players gave an absolute and outclass performance throughout the match.
  • Johanna Konta took a perfect start as she won the first set in the end when Caroline dropped her points on the serve.

  • However, in the second set, Caroline Wozniacki stunned the crowd as she didn’t let Johanna Konta to score more than a point.

  • The match came to the decisive set and Johanna Konta opened the scoring of it.
  • However, Johanna failed to score in the end as Caroline Wozniacki scored first and eventually won the decisive set.

  • Caroline Wozniacki will now play against Ashleigh Barty in the Quarter finals of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018.

 

Single’s: Karolina Pliskova vs Barbora Strycova

Result: Karolina Pliskova defeated Barbora Strycova by 6-3, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • The 26-year old, Karolina Pliskova opened the scoring of the first set and was extending it a very swift pace.

  • Barbora Strycova only managed to recover a total of three points and eventually lost the first set.
  • In the second set, Karolina Pliskova again took the lead as Barbora Strycova failed to score the point on her serve.

  • However, Barbora Strycova fought very well in this set but despite her hard work and good efforts, she again lost it by two points.

  • Karolina Pliskova finally booked her place into the Quarter finals and will now play against Aryna Sabalenka in Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018.

 

Single’s: Angelique Kerber vs Danielle Rose Collins

Result: Angelique Kerber defeated Danielle Rose Collins by 6-1, 6-1.

Highlights:

  • A breathtaking performance was witnessed by the German star, Angelique Kerber as she won both the sets in a rhythm.
  • Angelique Kerber took the lead in the opening set of the match and was scoring points at a very fast pace.

  • On the other hand, Danielle Rose Collins was just losing points and eventually faced a humiliating defeat in the end of the first set.
  • The match moved to the second set and again the German took the lead with a powerful shot.

  • However, Danielle Rose Collins again failed to recover it and at last got out of the tournament.
  • Angelique Kerber made it to the Quarter finals of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018 where she will now play against Daria Kasatkina.

 

Single’s: Ashleigh Barty vs Hsieh Su-wei

Result: Ashleigh Barty defeated Hsieh Su-wei by 6-0, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Ashleigh Barty gave an excellent performance throughout the match against Hsieh.
  • The first set was worth-watching as Ashleigh Barty did not let Hsieh score a single point against her and eventually won it by 6-0.
  • In the next set, Ashleigh again opened the scoring but this time Hsieh Su-wei was also recovering points quickly.
  • In the end, the Australian finally won the set by two points and made it to the Quarter finals.

  • Ashleigh Barty will now play against Caroline Wozniacki in her next match of Eastbourne Tennis Intl 2018.

 

Men’s Doubles

Double’s: Ryan Harrison and Nicholas Monroe vs Rajeev Ram and Ivan Dodig

Result: Ryan Harrison and Nicholas Monroe defeated Rajeev Ram and Ivan Dodig by 6-3, 7-6.

Highlights:

  • Although, Rajeev Ram and Ivan Dodig opened the scoring of the first set but they failed to extend it for their opponents.
  • Ryan Harrison and Nicholas Monroe not only recovered the points instead they won the first set by a margin of three points.
  • In the second set, Ryan Harrison and Nicholas Monroe took the lead but Rajeev Ram and Ivan Dodig were also scoring quickly.
  • The score reached 5-5 but eventually Ryan Harrison and Nicholas Monroe claimed victory in the second set.

Double’s: Robert Lindstedt and Edouard Roger-Vasselin vs Joe Salisbury and Scott Clayton

Result: Robert Lindstedt and Edouard Roger-Vasselin defeated Joe Salisbury and Scott Clayton by 6-2, 7-5.

Highlights:

  • Joe Salisbury and Scott Clayton took the lead in the opening set of the match but failed to extend it for their opponents.

  • Robert Lindstedt and Edouard Roger-Vasselin soon recovered it and won the set in the end easily by a margin of four points.
  • In the next set, Joe Salisbury and Scott Clayton again opened the scoring and were playing confidently.

  • However, some mistakes were made by Jow and Scott Clayton which costed them this set in the end by two points.

 

Women’s Doubles

Double’s: Mihaela Buzarnescu and Irina Camelia Begu vs Vania King and Katarina Srebotnik

Result: Mihaela Buzarnescu and Irina Camelia Begu defeated Vania King and Katarina Srebotnik by 6-2, 6-4.

Highlights:

  • Mihaela Buzarnescu and Irina Camelia Begu opened the scoring of the first set as Vania and Katarina failed to score the first point.
  • Vania King and Katarina Srebotnik both lost a total of three serves which costed them the first set.

  • However, in the second set, Vania King and Katarina Srebotnik took the lead and were playing very confidently.
  • But Mihaela Buzarnescu and Irina Camelia Begu eventually claimed the victory in this set as they scored the last two points in a quick succession.
