Result:   Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 11 runs.

Man of the Match: Kane Williamson

Highlights:

  • It was litmus test for Rajasthan Royals batsmen as they faced the best bowling attack of Sunrisers in this IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad backed their bowling strength as they chose to bat first after winning the toss.
  • The Hyderabad innings was led by Alex Hales and Kane Williamson’s responsible batting as both batsmen built their innings quite elegantly.
  • However, Rajasthan bowlers especially Gowtham and Archer were pretty impressive. As, both these players did not allow Sunrisers to score freely by taking timely wickets throughout the innings.
  • So, a good bowling effort by Rajasthan Royals restricted Sunrisers to a score of 151 runs. However, chasing 152 against a superior SRH attack was not going to be easy.
  • The RR innings started and although, Sunrisers struck early however, Sanju Samson and Rahane looked quite threatening at one point.
  • But, SRH showed their class once again as despite Rahane being not out in the end, Rajasthan lost the match by 11 runs.
  • With this win the Sunrisers firmly placed themselves at the top of the IPL points table.

Result:   Kolkata Knight Riders won by 6 wickets.

Man of the Match: Chris Lynn

Highlights:

  • Kolkata Knight Riders faced Royal Challengers Bangalore on their home ground as RCB looked to add a win in their list. Kolkata won the toss and chose to field first on this slow pitch.
  • Brendon McCullum opened the batting with de Kock and both had a job to do as ABD was out sick. Both batsmen started off brilliantly but KKR managed to pull things back by striking in two consecutive overs.
  • Apart from Russell and Kuldeep no other Kolkata’s bowler seemed to hit the correct line and length.
  • RCB batsmen especially, Kohli showed his class as he remained unbeaten throughout the innings and led his team to a respectable total.
  • In order to win this match, KKR now needed 176 runs; A total that seemed attainable, considering KKR’s batting line-up.
  • And that is exactly what happened as KKR batsmen won the match with ease. Chris Lynn was the highlight of the match as his new approach allowed him to steer his innings throughout the end.
  • He was supported by Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Narine and Robin Uthappa who contributed with their cameos to win the match for KKR.
  • RCB had no one but themselves to blame for this loss as they seemed all over the place. Misfields and dropped catches were the highlight of their innings as they lost yet another match.
