IPL Match Highlights:

·         The Royals faced Chennai Super Kings on a slow pitch in Jaipur with the intention of winning this match to ease their chances of making it to the play-offs.

·         The toss was held as Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first on this slow pitch. This was a good decision by Dhoni as the pitch was only going to get much slower in the 2nd innings.

·        So, the match started as Royals openers Shane Watson and Chennai’s leading run-scorer Ambati Rayudu walked out to bat. Both batsmen looked good on the crease as they were playing their shots well.

·         But this is when Rajasthan’s top-bowler and BBL sensation, Jofra Archer uprooted the stumps of Rayudu to provide his team with an early wicket.

·         However, after that Suresh Raina and Shane Watson shared a superb partnership of 86 runs to take the early wicket advantage away from Rajasthan Royals.

·        But, Watson could not convert his innings into a fifty and fell to Archer in the 12th over. Raina managed to score a fifty but his wicket was taken by Ish Sodhi in the 13th over.

·         Rajasthan were bowling superbly at this point, however Dhoni and Sam Billings played the role of the perfect finishers as they steered their team to a respectable total of 176 runs.

·         Rajasthan Royals now needed 177 runs to win against a good bowling attack of Chennai Super Kings. so, the 2nd innings started as the in-form Jose Buttler walked in with Ben Stokes to open the batting for the Royals.

.         CSK needed a quick wicket to take control from the very first, however they were taken by surprise as Jose Buttler struck boundaries from the very 1st over as Royals cruised above the required run-rate.

·         Ben Stokes also looked threatening but after his stumps were uprooted by Harbhajan Singh, no batsman apart from Sanju Samson and Binny could stay at the crease to support Buttler as he reached his fifty in no time.

·         Buttler lost partners as the wind, however he stayed strong till the end as it all came down to 12 runs from 6 balls.

·         CSK’s death bowler specialist Darren Bravo was given the ball by M.S Dhoni as CSK looked to defend 12 runs from the last over.

·         Buttler was on strike from the very first ball, and he did the job for his team as the game was won on the last ball.

·         So, Rajasthan Royals managed to stay in the play-offs race by beating CSK by 4 wickets.
