Junior Davis Cup ’19 – Qualifying Round: Chinese Taipei beat Pakistan in Opener

Pakistani players made a poor start of their Junior Davis Cup campaign after losing the opener 0-3 against Chinese Taipei in the final qualifying round of the Junior Davis Cup at Bangkok, Thailand.

In the first singles match, Abdullah Adnan suffered 2-6, 4-6 defeat at the hands of Kai Shiang Yang while Zalan Khan was defeated 4-6, 0-6 by Cheng Tang in the second match.

In the doubles encounter, the Pakistan pair of Abdullah Adnan and Rayan Jawwad lost their match 3-6, 3-6 to Yu Shiang Huang and Cheng Tang.

Pakistan will now play against Thailand. Pakistan have been placed in Group C with Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Philippines.

Pakistan Junior Davis Cup team non-playing captain Rashid Malik said: “Pakistan players played well but have to improve mentally on crucial points.  We had chances but the players couldn’t avail them. We will fight better Inshallah.”
