MONTREAL, CANADA:  Rafael Nadal, already a leading titlist of ATP Masters 1000, is the undisputed “king” of the Masters 1000. He achieved this when he won a record setting 35th Masters 1000 title by winning Rogers Cup title for the fifth time.

The record was previously held by Novak Diokovic, which has been surpassed by Rafael Nadal by two more wins.

This feat was achieved by convincingly beating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-0. Before this win in 2019, Nadal has won the Rogers Cup in 2005, 2008, 2013, 2018.

Nadal won his 83rd singles title and the third during 2019, after winning the title in Rome, Italy and at the French Open.

Later on, Nadal announced that he will not be participating in the Cincinnati Masters 1000, which commences on Monday, 19th August 2019.

The Cincinnati tournament is regarded as a preparatory event before the US Open, which will start on 26th August 26 in New York, USA.
