ISLAMABAD: Pakistani opener Abid Ali made history on Sunday by hitting century score in his first test against Sri Lanka. The match ended in draw as only two days of play was allowed due to rain and bad lighting.

Abid Ali has become first-ever batsman to score centuries in both ODI and test debuts. He had earlier scored 112 against Australia in Dubai in his first one-day international.

Abid became the 11th Pakistani batsman to score a hundred on test debut. He was also the 15th batsman to score a ton on his ODI debut but no other batsman has managed to achieved both feats in 150 years of cricket history.

It is pertinent to mention that Abid Ali is the first MALE cricketer to achieve this feat. England’s Enid Bakewell has previously achieved the feat for women’s cricket.

Despite the rousing performances by Abid Ali (109) and Babar Azam (102), the first test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ended in draw. Three whole days were washed out by rain in Rawalpindi and both teams were able to play only 1 innings each. Both teams will now head to Karachi where second test is scheduled from Dec 19-24.
