Highlights of the Day

Pakistan began batting on 57/0 on the third day of 2nd test in Karachi aiming to have a strong opening partnership to build a solid lead over Sri Lanka

After bridging the first inning gap, openers Shan Masood and Abid Ali continued to pile up runs over runs in a consistent manner throughout the day.

The right-left duo made and broke several records during their 278 runs opening partnership, the second-highest for Pakistan.

Abid Ali (174) became the first Pakistani and Eighth international batsman to score centuries in both opening tests. He had scored 109 against Sri Lanka in first test in Rawalpindi.

Shan Masood (135) too had an eventful day as he completed his 1000 test runs when he reached 46 but went on to score his first test century in 19 matches.

Lahiru Kumara became the only wicket-taker for Sri Lanka when he broke the record opening partnership by dismissing Masood in 69th over and then Abid in 91st over.

Pakistan were 394/2 at the end of Day 3 in Karachi with a massive lead of 315 runs and skipper Azhar Ali (57*) along with star batsman Babar Azam (22*) ready to pile up more runs tomorrow.
