The PRU-Pakistan Rugby Union workshop for training of rugby referees was conducted in Bahawalnagar, under the supervision of 0RU Technical Director, Shakeel Ahmad.

The participants of the referees workshop included Abdul Samad, Haseeb Raza and Saman Iftikhar from Fort Abbas, Maryam Shareef and Nasira Naseer from Bahawalnagar, Muhammad Abdullah and Shazia Shabbir from Lodhran, Muhammad Arif from Kot Addu, Ghulam Abbas and Zafar Abbas from Muzaffargarh, Muhammad Irfan and Muhammad Waqas from Vehari.

In a statement, Shakeel Ahmad said: “Pakistan has a great rugby talent and especially the South Punjab region is blessed with great rugby talent, who if trained and facilitated well, is bound to excel and capable of winnig laurels for the country at international level. Not only great players, we are finding the best officials from this region as well.
“We have already found the best coaches, umpires and medical officials from South Punjab and this time, we worked on referees and succeeded in finding excellent talent,” he added.

PRU President Chaudhry Arif Saeed sharing his thoughts, stated that the union has been providing the best facilities and training to all the players, coaches, umpires and referees and this workshop is also a part of the PRU’s vision of promoting and developing the game across the country. Elaborated that “The PRU will gradually restore the Rugby activities throughout the country which due to Covid-19 pandemic, suffered a lot and has is still suffering.”
