LAHORE: The much acclaimed Turkish Airlines Golf Trophy, fielding 110 golf playing amateurs will tee off at the panoramic and impressive 18 holes, par 72 Royal Palm Golf and Country Club Golf Course on Sunday – 1st April 2018. This is a trophy, the acquisition of which yields a rewarding, advantageous and gainful trip to Turkey and the ultimate winner becomes a part of the Turkish World Cup of Golf that will be held in Turkey later this year. And the fortunate one gets a chance to compete against the chosen ones from other golf playing centers of the world where such events are held.

The championship is based on the stableford format, and while each birdie adds to the points taking by three, the par brings a premium of two points and the bogie brings in just one point. So the participants in the race for the Turkish Airlines Trophy will strategize and draw up their golfing game plan in a way that birdies and pars become a norm and the score card is filled with excellence. For smooth running of the championship, Andrew and Harvey of Turkish Airlines will be present to supervise and as per announced schedule, the tee off will take place at 10am through a shot gun start at Royal Palm Golf Course.

The participating competitors include over 22 single handicappers, most of them capable of hitting the ball with fearsome rhythmic power and possessing the ability to produce a feast of golf backed by the forte of good temperament. This enables them to match each other point for point and not give up their quest for honours right till the last point in this stableford format competition.

Notable ones who fall in this grouping are Shoaib Bokhari, Faisal Sayid, Farid Malik, Shahid Abbas, Dr Tariq Malik, Abbas Chaudhry, Omer Dar and the very young one, Hussain Hamid.

As for the able ones with a double digit handicap, quite a few manage to look fearsome and can produce outstanding scores that are wrapped with substantial coating of victory oriented results. In this category are players like Abdul Islam Nazir, Hassan Hamid, Abdullah Sharif, Dr. Tashbeeb, Imran Mairaj, Abid Farooq and Max Babri. Certainly there is a refreshing touch to their shot making and if their putting ability does not desert them, the star of the championship could be one from their lot.
