The Kamran Steel ATF 16&Under Asian Tennis Tour 2022 Leg-1, concluded at the SBP-Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy at Nishtar Park Sports Complex. 

Finals of various age categories were contested with most of the top performers emerging as title winners.

Winners and Runners up of the Kamran Steel ATF 16&Under Asian Tennis Tour 2022 Leg-1 event, held at the SBP-Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy at Nishtar Park Sports Complex, Lahore, Pakistan – Allsportspk

Boys U-16 final – Bilal Asim, commanded the courts against Haider Ali Rizwan and thrashed him by 6-0, 6-0. Bilal dominated the title clash right from the word go and did not allow his opponent to score even a single point, thus clinching the Asian Ranking Tennis event in great style.  

Boys/Girls U-14 final – Taimoor Ansari beat Abdullah Pirzada by 9-8 to claim the title. In the boys/girls U-14 doubles final, Nabeel Qayum/Abdur Rehman beat Amna Qayum/Taimoor Ansari 6-1.  

Boys/Girls U-12 final – Hajra Suhail beat Salar Husnain 6-3 to earn the title.

Boys/Girls U-10 title – was won by Hajra Suhail, who thumped Muaz Shahbaz 6-1.

Boys/Girls U-8 – Ayan Shahbaz grabbed gold medal, Ehsan Bari silver and Daniyal Afzal bronze medal.

Boys/Girls U-6 – Soha Abdullah earned gold medal, Mamnoon Bari silver and Shahreen bronze medal.  

Sharing his views after winning the U16 title, Bilal thanked his coach and mentor Rashid Malik and stated “I am improving a lot under his coaching and he is preparing me well for ATF and ITF events.” Bilal also thanked international tennis star Aisam ul Qureshi and his ‘Ace Tennis Academy’, saying, “Aisam bhai gave me useful tips to further improve my tennis while ACE Academy trainer Farhan Masood Khan trained me very professionally and fully focused on my fitness that helped me win the Asian Tennis final by 6-0, 6-0.” 

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Ehsan Bhutta along with Director General Sports Punjab, Muhammad Tariq Qureshi and Director, Kamran Steels Mian Mohsin Arshad distributed the prizes and trophies.

Semi Finals & Position Day Review

The position matches were decided in the Kamran Steel ATF 16&Under Asian Tennis Tour, 2022 Leg-1 at Sports Board Punjab, Tennis Academy Nishtar Park Sports Complex.

In the match for third/fourth position, Sheheryar Anees beat Hussnain Ali Rizwan 7-5, 6-4, for the fifth/sixth position match, Ahtesham Humayun beat Salaar Khan 6-3, 6-2, for the seventh/eighth position match, Amir Khan Mazari beat Ibrahim Ashraf 6-2, 6-4, for ninth/10th position, Asad Zaman beat Nabeel Qayum 6-1,6-3 while for the 11th/12th position match, Sameer Zaman beat M Sohaan Noor 7-6, 6-1.

Age Group Category Matches

Meanwhile in Kamran Steel Punjab Junior Tennis Championship 2022, the competitions were held in different age group categories. In the boys/girls U-14 doubles semifinal, Abdur Rehman/Nabeel Qayum beat Aalay Husnain/Eesa Bilal 6-2, Amna Qayum/Taimoor Ansari beat M Sohaan Noor/Abdullah Pirzada 6-2. In the boys/girls U-10 semifinal, Hajra Suhail beat Ayyan Shahbaz 6-1, Muaz Shahbaz beat Mustafa Uzair Rana 6-0.

Quarter Final Day

Bilal Asim, Haider Ali Rizwan, Hussnain Ali Rizwan and Sheheryar Anees booked berths in the semifinals of Kamran Steel ATF 16&Under Asian Tennis Tour 2022 Leg-1.

Haider, Bilal Reach U-16 Singles & Doubles Finals

Haider Ali Rizwan will face Bilal Asim in the final of the Kamran Steel ATF 16&Under Asian Tennis Tour 2022; Leg-1 at Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park Sports Complex, Lahore.

The semifinals of the Boys U-16 were also decided.

In the first semifinal, Haider Ali Rizwan of LGS Paragon overwhelmed Sheheryar Anees by 6-4, 6-1. Haider faced tough resistance from his opponent in the first set but after leveling the score at 4-all, he settled down and won the next two points in a row to win it 6-4. He dominated the second set right from the word go and comfortably took it by 6-1 to book berth in the final.

Rising star Bilal Asim was another player, who set the final clash against Haider, after defeating spirited Hussnain Ali Rizwan by 7-6, 6-0.

Tennis Pakistan-ATF Championships 14U 2021 Leg 2: Day 1

In the U-16 position matches, Asad Zaman (Ali Embroidery Mills) had to struggle hard to edge out talented Sameer Zaman by 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 while Muhammad Salaar also faced tough resistance from M. Ibraheem Ashraf before winning the crucial match by 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Nabeel Qayum did well against M. Sohaan Noor and outpaced him by 6-1, 7-5 while Abdullah Pirzada outsmarted Taimoor Ansari by 6-2, 6-3.

Boy’s U-16 doubles semifinals also took place, in which Bilal Asim and Ahtesham Humayun made their presence felt by outlasting the pair of Sameer Zaman and Amir Mazari 6-1, 6-1. Bilal/Ahtesham were in sublime form and started well against their opponents, thus comfortably winning the first set 6-1 and the second with the same score of 6-1 to earn a place in the final.

The second finalist pair was of Hussnain Ali Rizwan and Haider Ali Rizwan, who proved too hot for Ashraf and Nabeel Qayum and trounced them by a huge margin of 6-0, 6-0.

Abdullah Pirzada and Taimoor Ansari qualified for the Boy’s/Girl’s U-14 semifinals. Abdullah Pirzada played well against Nabeel Qayum and thumped him by 6-2 while Taimoor Ansari had to struggle hard to brush aside Abdur Rehman (SICAS) by 7-5.

In the Boy’s/Girl’s U-12 semifinals, Aalay Husnain beat Abdur Rehman 6-4 and SICAS’ brilliant student Hajra Suhail (AAA Associates) beat Bismel Zia 6-2.

Boy’s/Girl’s U-10 quarterfinal was played, in which Hajra Suhail beat Aliyan 6-0 and Muaz Shahbaz beat Aahil Najoom 6-0.

  • – Bilal Asim, took little time to brush aside Ibrahim Ashraf by 6-0, 6-1. Bilal vowed to do well in the remaining matches saying he will try his best to win the Asian Ranking Tennis title. He also thanked his coach Rashid Malik for his guidance and coaching, which is helping him excel at Asian level.
  • – Haider Ali Rizwan (LGS Paragon) beat Ahtesham Humayun 7-6, 6-4.
