The French sports ministry announced that under the new rules, major sports players would have to be vaccinated for playing in France. If applied Novak Djokovic may not be able to participate in the 2022 French Open.

Previously, the organizers’ of Major events such as French Open had permitted unvaccinated athletes to participate, as a health bubble was existent around the tournament area.

The new French move somewhat contradicts the last week claim of the Sports Minister, Roxana Maracineanu that certain events like the French Open had a special exemption. Thereby, visiting players such as Novak Djokovic would be able to play without being vaccinated against the Covid 19.

According to ministry, the new pass for vaccine which has been approved by the French parliament, and applies on all, on volunteers and on major sports players, including those coming from abroad.
