Limerick has been named as host of the 2023 World Archery Youth Championships and it has been confirmed that World Archery Congress in 2021 will be held at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in Yankton.

The hosting appointments were approved earlier in the summer by executive board via postal vote .

Limerick’s bid was supported by Archery Ireland, tourism authorities, and University of Limerick which will be the primary venue for the event.

Limerick is a historic city in the west of Ireland, which has a sporting tradition, particularly related to rugby.

Ireland has already hosted an international archery event during 2016 when the world field championships were held.

The next 2021 World Archery Youth Championships are scheduled for Perth, Australia. They will take place shortly after Yankton, USA hosts next year’s Hyundai World Archery Championships.

Archery’s international events are presently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A final decision on the 2020 season will be published by 15th July, while the calendar for the 2021 Hyundai Archery World Cup is expected on 20th July.
