After a commitment of ending political interference in the administration of the board, ICC-International Cricket Council has lifted the ban on SLC-Sri Lanka Cricket with immediate effect.

During November 2023, ICC accused and banned SLC for not being able to independently and without political involvement manage its affairs. Banning also included alleged corruption charges in SLC board.

Since the ban, Sri Lanka was not able to take part in any of the international cricket events and also was not able to host the Under-19 World Cup 2024.

According to the ICC statement, it was now “satisfied that SLC are no longer in breach of membership obligations”.
