29th Asian Baseball C’ship 2019: Finalists To Qualify For Olympics 2020; Pakistan Participating
TAIWAN: Pakistan baseball team reached Taiwan to compete in the 29th Asian Baseball Championship 2019, which is being played from 14th – 20th October in the city of Taichung.
The participating teams include: Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, Philippines, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. This tournament is also an Olympic qualifying round, thereby, the teams which play the final will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The teams are divided into two pools:
- Pool A includes Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.
- Pool B includes Korea, China, Philippines and Pakistan.
Pakistan team, which is ranked 5th in Asia, includes the following players: Umair Imdad Bhatti (Captain), Muhammad Taimur Javed, Ihtisham ul Haq, Asad Ali, Rizwan Ali, Alamgir Khan, Muhammad Hussain, Muhammad Majeed, Fazal-ur-Rehman, Muhammad Zakir, Muhammad Jawad Khan, Muhammad Ehsan, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Zubair, Usman Ali, Atif Ahmed, Saad Ahmad Mansour, Abu Bakar Virk, Muhammad Ahsan Bilal and Muhammad Afzal.
The team’s officials include Haseeb Muhammad, Usman Ahmed, Muhammad Yasin and Muhammad Latif Anjum.

As per the schedule. Pakistan team will the Group matches as follows:
- First match against the Philippines on 14th October,
- Second match against Korea on 15th October,
- Third match against China on 16th October.
After the group matches 17th October will be a rest day. The Super Round and Consolation round will start from October 18. The matches for medals will be played on October 20.
Mr. Syed Fakhr Shah, President Federation Baseball said that this tournament is the biggest baseball event in Asia as the top teams from Asia, which are also included in the top 5 in the world participate.
Syed Fakhar Ali Shah added that Pakistan Women’s Baseball team will also participate in the 2nd Asian Women’s Baseball Championship in China next month. The National Training Camp of Pakistan Women’s Baseball Team is in progress at Lahore College for Women University.
