In the first round contested and played at the esteemed Islamabad Golf Club Golf Course, the Lahore Garrison Golf Team accumulated a gross team score of 475, while the Islamabad Golf Club Team is placed at a gross team score of 478, followed by Karachi Golf Club, Karachi Team at 512 and Peshawar Golf Club Team at 525.

Performing Players

In individual performances the amateur category players of Lahore Garrison proved to be most useful for their team with steady individual scores that helped to elevate their teams position to an uplifted level. Nouman Ilyas  had a round of gross 75, while young Damil Ataullah carded a useful gross 77 and the talented Capt. Zain chipped in with gross 79.

Senior Amateur category player Tariq Mehmood was most impressive with a gross 75 backed by modest efforts by Ikram ul Haq and Raja Asif Mehdi. Overall the Lahore Garrison Team compiled a team score of 475 and are the front runners, three strokes ahead of their robust rivals, Islamabad Golf Club. 

For Islamabad Golf Club the principal performers were Shumayl Aziz, Fawad Trimzi and Hamza Sheikh in the amateur category and in senior amateur category, Tariq Akbar, Ibrar Khan and the illuminated one of our national golf scene in the sixties, seventies and eighties, Taimur Hassan Amin. This champion of yester years radiated and sparkled in the opening round with a gross 76. Islamabad Team compiled a score of 478 and are placed three strokes behind the leaders. Karachi Golf Club Team finished the first day at a team score of 512, a rather disheartening effort. Peshawar team is placed low down at a team score of 525 and trail the leaders by 50 strokes.

As per championship format, the ladies, junior girls and boys enter the contest from Saturday at the Islamabad Golf Course.

Tournament Brief and Format

The Golf Teams of four leading golf clubs of Pakistan who emanated as the paramount teams in Provincial Golf Contests held last month under the guidance and oversight of the Federal Golf Body, Sind Golf Association, KPK Golf Association and Punjab Golf Association are up against each other in an enormously potent battle for dominance, accolades and premium bearing national honours. These clubs are Garrison Golf Club from Punjab, Islamabad Golf Club from Federal Territory, Peshawar Golf Club from KPK and Karachi Golf Club from Sind. In accordance with the laid down format of this Inter Club Championship 2022, the teams of each club comprise of  four amateurs who are national level players, four senior amateurs in the age category above 55 years, three ladies, three junior girls under 21 years age, three junior boys in age bracket 15-18 years and three junior boys below 15 years.
