A Spanish triathlete set an extraordinary example of sportsmen spirit. He stopped before the finish line and let his British competitor cross the finish line to win the Bronze medal.

As can be seen in the tweet video, the Spaniard Diego Méntrida about 100 meters before the finish line of ‘Santander Triathlon 2020’ was trailing the British athlete James Teagle who mistook the direction and failed to turn a corner, thereby allowing Méntrida to overtake him just meters from the finish line.

Diego set a unique example of sportsmanship by stopping before the finish line, and letting James come back on the track and cross the finish line before him.

For this unique behaviour, the organisers of ‘Santander Triathlon 2020’ also awarded the honorary bronze medal to Diego Manderida.
