Thunberg

Young Climate Activist Greta Thunberg has criticized Tennis star Roger Federer for his endorsement of Credit Suisse bank that has investments in the fossil fuels industry.

The 17-year-old swede publicly called out Federer via Twitter urging him to rescind his support for the Swiss financial behemoth lending her powerful voice to a campaign in this regard.

The call-out came as part of a wider campaign by Swiss climate activists against the anti-environment investment policies of Credit Suisse which have nominated Roger Federer as their brand ambassador.

The campaigners are using hashtag #Rogerwakeupnow to highlight their campaign on social media.

Credit Suisse is a Switzerland based bank and financial institution having a portfolio of well above $200 billion dollars out of which $57 billion have been invested in the fossil fuel industry with severely adverse environmental impact.

There has been no response from Federer or his public agent so far. The world number 3 will begin his 2020 season with the Australian Open set to begin from January 20, followed by Miami Open and ATP title championship in Dubai.
