Asian Games 2018 Squash Team C’ships: Day 2 – 2nd Qualifying Round Matches

INDONESIA: During the second day of Asian Games Squash event, Indonesia the hosts caused an unexpected major upset by winning over sixth seeds China in the Women’s event at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta.

Indonesia achieved this win besides being seeded 10th, not having any ranked players in their squad.

Further, in Pool B the top two teams Hong Kong China and India as expected recorded their respective wins. The 3rd seeds India defeated Thailand and Indonesia 3/0. Whereas the 2nd seeds Hong Kong China beat both Iran and China 3/0.

In the men’s event, Hong Kong the favourites for the first time, beat Korea 3/0. In Pool B, 2nd seeds India maintained their winning streak but had to go till the end to beat the 6th seeds Qatar.
