Unexpectedly Rafael Nadal, the favourite to win the Paris Masters, was ousted by 23 year old Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-5. By this defeat the German finally brook the streak of 10 consecutive victories of the Spaniard, who was participating in this tournament after winning his 13th Roland Garros title.

The final of the event which did not have the participation of Novak Djokovic or Dominic Thiem, will be between Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev.

Russian Daniil Medvedev beat Canadian Milos Raonic 6-4, 7-6, who reached his first final in 13 months and the fourth in a Masters 1,000.

The semi final match had an upper hand for the German, who after an uneasy start took advantage and became victorious in one hour and 39 minutes.

This was Nadal’s eighth appearance in the Paris Masters, an event of which he has only reached the semi-finals 4 times. With this defeat Nadal also missed the second possibility of winning one of the three Masters 1000 (the other two are Miami and Shanghai) which are missing from his achievements record.
