Nathan Lyon soared with 10 wickets to vanquish New Zealand batting line leading Australia to a 279-runs victory in the third test at Sydney ending the three-test series with a clean sweep.

New Zealand were already off to a shaky start chasing a mammoth total of 416 for victory when the top order was dismissed quickly in the beginning.

Lyonโ€™s spin magic aided by Mitchell Starc’s quickfire deliveries made sure that the job was done by tea by dismissing the visitors on 136. The off-spinner claimed five wickets in the second innings and a total 10 in the match.

Earlier, Australia had declared their second innings at 217/2 after David Warner completed his century on the fourth day of the third test in Sydney.

Australiaโ€™s Marnus Labuschagne was named player of the match and player of the series as well for his superb batting performance throughout the series amassing 896 runs with three centuries.

Kiwis had been completely outclassed by Australia during this series and had not been able to withstand their fierce bowling attack. Australia won the First Test at Perth by 296 runs and second at Melbourne by 248 runs.

Australia has been undefeated at home this season with beating New Zealand 3-0 and Pakistan 2-0 and finishing all matches within four days out of five allotted.

The test series was played among fears of smoke hazards caused by unprecedented bushfires throughout Australia that have claimed dozens of lives so far.
