Trinidad and Tobago will host the Commonwealth Youth Games in the summer of 2023 from 4th-11th August 2023. This decision has been taken in the General Assembly of the CGF-Commonwealth Games Federation held in Birmingham.
Trinidad and Tobago will host the seventh edition of this competition. The first Commonwealth Youth Games was held in Scotland in 2000. Subsequently, the event to place in Australia, India, Isle of Man, Samoa, and most recently in 2017 in the Bahamas.
Featuring athletes aged 14-18, the specific dates in the summer of 2023 and the final sports programme will be confirmed in the coming weeks. It will also be confirmed that as per the Sports Programme for Trinbago 2023, seven sports will be organized at the Commonwealth Youth Games.
The seven sports that will feature at the Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games are:
- Aquatics (Swimming) – male and female
- Athletics – male and female
- Cycling – (Road Race, Time Trial and Track) – male and female
- FAST5 Netball – female
- Rugby Sevens – male and female
- Triathlon – male and female
- Beach Volleyball – male and female
The hosting decision comes after Trinidad and Tobago in 2019 were awarded the 2021 Commonwealth Youth Games, but due to COVID 19 pandemic the event was postponed
