Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil and Montserrat Gonzalez of Paraguay were nominated for a Fed Cup Heart Award. They have been nominated based on their performances during February in Americas Zone Group I.

The Heart award aims to give recognition to players who have represented their country with distinction, shown exceptional courage on court and demonstrated outstanding commitment to the team during Fed Cup.

Gonzalez, was undefeated in the five rubbers that she contested at the Club Internacional de Tenis in Asuncion in February. In addition, having annually played Fed Cup by BNP Paribas since 2011, she was instrumental in securing the place for Paraguay in April’s World Group II play-offs.

Her notable form in February extends her overall Fed Cup win-loss record in singles and doubles to 38-15.

As to Beatriz Haddad Maia, although Brazil might have lost the Americas I promotion play-off to Paraguay but she has all the credentials worthy of being a winner of Fed Cup Heart Award.

Beatriz has played six live rubbers during the Americas Zone Group I event in February, carrying her team towards a promotion showdown against hosts Paraguay.

The Voting for the Fed Cup Heart Award has opened on 23rd March 2018.
