PSG Paris Saint Germain have been declared the 2019-20 Ligue 1 champion by the LFP – French League. With this PSG wins the Ligue 1 crown season for the third time in a row.
When the season ended earlier in March due to the coronavirus attack, PSG was leading the points table with a 12-point advantage over the second positioned Marseille. Based on which the title has been awarded.
According to reports the executive board of LFP had a meeting on Thursday, 30th April to discuss the situation arising from the announcement of French Prime Minister about cancelling the football season and other sports till September.
The French sports ministry had further clarified after the Prime Minister’s speech that till end of July, games could not even take place even without spectators. However, this would leave open the option that some matches could still be played in August.
