Liverpool

Liverpool registered a comfortable 2-0 victory against visiting Sheffield United to set a year-long winning streak and restore their top spot at the Premier League table.

Mohamed Salah gave his side an early lead with his fourth-minute goal which was further supplemented by Sadio Mane’s second-half breakthrough to secure a victory on home ground.

Sheffield United strived to recover from the early onslaught from Liverpool forwards but could not manage to offset them despite coming close on a number of occasions.

The win means that Liverpool not only recovered the four-point deficit from Leicester City but managed to gain a 14-point lead at the Premier League’s points table.

The 2-0 victory also saw that Jurgen Klopp’s side maintain a full calendar year of premier league matches without a loss. Their last defeat was against Manchester City on January 3, 2019.

Liverpool will be facing Tottenham in their next premier league match and a victory there would mean the best opening sequence by any club in the league’s history.
