Lahore: Pakistan Rugby Union organized a series of Rugby courses recently at  Lahore.  Senior & qualified Rugby coaches from Hong Kong and Srilanka,namely Mr. Hung Fung and Mr.Dilroy Fernando,arrived here earlier this week.

On the first day,Level 1 Strength and Conditioning course was conducted in which 8 coaches participated from all over the country.This course was meant for coaches and referees who had already completed Level 1 and Level 2 coaching courses last week.Subsequently,Level 2 coaching course was conducted.Pakistan Rugby Union’s Head Coach Shakeel Ahmed worked in assistance with Mr.Hung Fung for successful completion of Level 2 course to ensure that participants benefited maximum from this activity.

Pakistan Rugby Union’s  Manager said at this occasion,”Our goal is to regularly hold such courses to refresh the local coaches and to keep them abreast with the latest techniques of coaching.When coaches are trained this way,they’ll better be able to coach players all over the country.Mr Hung Fung  is really good coach and has been prominent player in the Hong Kong Rugby team in the past.We hope our coaches will  take advantage of his experience, learn modern techniques from him and this is helps us promote the sport in the country.”

Speaking at the concluding ceremony,Mr.Dilroy said:“The game of rugby has been gaining popularity with each passing day here in Pakistan.The passion and love of Pakistani people for rugby is highly appreciable and I can foresee a bright future of Pakistan rugby.The PRU has been successfully achieving GIR ( get into rugby) program targets, which will certainly help them earn laurels in the game internationally.”

Pakistan Rugby Union secretary,Arif Saeed thanked the foreign trainers for their arrival and for guiding Pakistani coaches and players in professional manner.
