The IWF- International Weightlifting Federation upon holding its Member Federations Congress, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and online. approved the schedule and procedure related to the holding of next IWF Executive Board elections and other Committee positions. The Congress was attended by 101 Member Federations took part out of which 69 were in-person, and 32 online.
 
IWF Interim President Dr Michael Irani post session stated. “We were asked to deliver three things: new governance, clean competitions and faces in our leadership team. We’ve already delivered the first two. The third is certain to happen because of the provisions mandated by our new Constitution for more athletes and more women on the IWF Executive Board. And now we have a firm date.”
 
The Elections were scheduled to be held during the session of present Congress. However, they were suspended, based on the advice from the IWF’s independent Legal Commission and will now take place on 25th – 26th June 2022.

IWF Extraordinary Congress – 30th January 2022
Call for Candidatures – 2nd March 2022
Candidate completion Deadline by the EDC – 30th April 2022
 
The IWF Congress session also featured a range of reports from the IWF leadership team, in regards to forthcoming IWF World Championships, successful weightlifting competitions at Paris 2024 and securing the Weightlifting’s Olympic future.
