Highlights:

·         It was a do or die match for Mumbai Indians as they they now had to win all their remaining matches including this one to make it to the play-offs this year.

·         So, Mumbai won the toss and elected to field first. KXIP explosive opening pair KL Rahul and Chris Gayle walked out in the middle and gave their side a similar blasting start.

·         Both batsmen complimented each other quite beautifully as they shared yet another yet another 50-run partnership.

·     However, Mumbai came back in the match after Markande claimed the wicket of KL Rahul.

·         Chris Gayle reached his fifty but after him no KXIP batsman managed to score a fifty.

·     But, short cameos from Karun Nair and Marcus Stoinis helped as KXIP total was boosted to 174 runs in 20 overs.

·         Mumbai bowlers were quite average today and apart from Bumrah every bowler gave an economy above 7 runs in their respective overs.

·       It was Mumbai’s turn to bat and they now needed 175 runs to win this match and stay alive in this tournament.

·         So, the 2nd innings started and Mumbai batsmen openers started off slowly before Mujeeb claimed the wicket of Evan Lewis to send him back to the pavilion.

 ·    However, Ishan and SA Yadav steadied things for Mumbai by sharing 42-run partnership between them.

·     But, it did not take long for KXIP to make a comeback in this match as Mujeeb and Tye struck to claim two more wickets of Mumbai.

·     In the end, it all came down to Krunal Pandya and Rohit Sharma as both batsmen remained unbeaten till the end to finish the match with one over to spare.

·     Mumbai Indians deserved to win this match after restricting KXIP to a low total.

·    And, with this win Mumbai Indians remain in in contention for making it to the playoffs of this season.
