Islamabad: The Pakistan Tennis Federation, announced special rewards to members of the Men’s tennis team and the Coach. This is in appreciation of the team having won the Silver Medal at the Solidarity Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Pakistan No.1 Aqeel Khan, will be awarded Rs. 100,000, while his teammates, Muhammad Abid Mushtaq and Muzammil Murtaza, will receive Rs.50,000 each and the Coach, Mahboob A. Khan, to be rewarded Rs. 30,000 for his contributions.
Pakistan’s men’s team reached the finals after winning all three ties in their pool in the first round. Pitted in the finals against the hot favourites, Turkey, which incuges very high-ranked ATP players, Team Pakistan could not match their opponents’ game and had to be content with a silver medal. The Turkish men’s and women’s teams went on to score gold medals in the various tennis events and bagged over 70 golds in the many disciplines contested at the Games.
