It has been finally decided that the height of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak is 8848.86 meters (around 29,032 feet). The announced height is about a meter higher than the previously height.

The teams from Nepal and China agreed to the height after collectively processing the surveyed data. The agreement ends the long lasting debate between the two countries – Nepal and Tibet, regarding the exact dimensions of the mountain.

The announcement was made via a virtual press conference which was attended by the Foreign Ministers, of Nepal Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and his China Mr. Wang Yi.

Mount Everest is located in the Mahalangur Himal area of the Himalayas and stands between the Nepalese and Chinese Tibetian border and is called Sagarmatha in Nepal and Qomolangma in Tibet.
