Highlights of the Day

Sri Lanka began their second day’s play trailing Pakistan by 127 runs looking to recover from last night’s early fall of wickets to consolidate their position.

However, both openers of the day, Lasith Embuldeniya and Angelo Mathews were dismissed for 13 each by Mohammad Abbas and Shaheen Afridi respective quite early in the day.

Dinesh Chandimal strived to steady his side’s collapsing batting order and provided the much-needed runs by hitting his 18th test century. He was bowled at 74 by Haris Sohail.

Abbas (4/55) and Afridi (5/77) did not let any Lankan batsman stay for long and Sri Lanka was bowled out for 271 and imposed an 80-runs lead on Pakistan. Main credit goes to Perera’s last-minute heroic 48.

Shaheen Afridi achieved his first-ever test 5 wickets haul and played a crucial role in limiting visitors’ lead to 80 by the third session of the second day.

Pakistani openers Shan Masood and Abid Ali began the second innings on a cautious note looking to quickly get rid of 80-runs lead.

Pakistan was 57/0 at the end of the second day’s play in National Stadium Karachi.
